November 2010

Autumn in San Francisco,

Not quite how the tune goes but I assure you it's much nicer on this coast.  I am very excited to let you know about a few things that are happening for us in the month of August.

Thursday November 4th Franco Nero is a guest on a radio show Wake The Town ( KUSF 90.3 ) from 10pm -11pm.  For those of you not in the know, Wake The Town brings amazing traditional Jamaican Rock Steady and Ska every Thursday night hosted by Adam Tadesse aka Revial Sound System.  You can always count on Adam for some education including last week with pioneer Roy Ellis.  You can stream it live here: On Air Now  or listen to it from the archives here: Really Good Times.  His archives are defiantly worth taking the time to go through, 3 years on the air!

Wednesday November 10th Franco Nero is back at the Madrone Art Bar in San Francisco.  Just announced we will be joined by DJ Junior Top spinning original Jamaican 45’s from his family’s selections.  Junior Top is one of the founding members of Guerrilla HiFi, a jazz meets dub project in the Bay Area.  You can listen to his mixes and recordings here: Dub, Dub and more free Dub. Junior Top is one of the driving influences behind the foundation of Franco Nero.

Franco Nero will also be joined be some new and old faces.  We would like to welcome back Lisa Mezzacappa on bass from her European exile.  Lisa has recently been featured at The Monterey Jazz festival, with her ensemble Bait and Switch, but we’re glad she has a love of DUB and SKA.  I would also like to announce our newest member in the band Ms. Audio Angel aka Rashida Clendening Audio Angel recently performed with Studio One guitar legend Ernest Ranglin, as well as racking up a BISS Entertainment award this year.

All of this adds up to a very special night of Blue Beat Music that you can enjoy dancing to live.  Please come out and help keep live music in San Francisco,

Thank You,

Ska T. Larson
